The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation signed a decree on the increase in fees from foreign carriers for the motion on Russian roads. Fees from foreign carriers grew to 850 rubles per day and 120 thousand rubles per year. These fees cover vehicles with the load capacity from 3.5 to 12 tons inclusive.

Previously fees from foreign trucks with this load capacity were 385 rubles per day and 60 thousand rubles per year. The tariff was established on the basis of the Euro exchange rate equal to 35 rubles. Therefore, the government brought the fee to the required amount, which, in particular, will increase revenues to the Federal Road Fund.

These fees were also introduced for Latvia and Lithuania, in accordance with the law of the Russian Federation, which provides that if the foreign state imposes tolls for the motion on their roads, Russia has the right to respond in kind. Latvia introduced the fee from trucks with GVW of 3.5 tons on July 1, 2014. It varies from 8 to 11 Euros per day or from 484 to 925 Euros per year (depending on the number of axles and emissions of the vehicle). In December 2015 the fee for the motion of heavy trucks was installed by Lithuania as well.
