There is a shortage of LADA cars in Kazakhstan

Russian Automotive Market Research

According to the Association of Kazakhstan’s Automotive Business (AKAB), over the first two months of 2016 LADA sales in Kazakhstan fell 6.2-fold and made 1057 units. As a result the Russian brand lost its leading position in the Kazakhstan automotive market for the first time in many years, and found itself behind Toyota, which in January-February 2016 sold 1384 cars (-22.6%). Similar result was shown by Renault – 1045 cars (-2%).

The shortage of LADA cars in Kazakhstan was caused by two factors: exhausted inventory of dealers because of the high demand in the fourth quarter of 2015 and the introduction in Kazakhstan of recycling and registration taxes on cars, because of which at the beginning of 2016 AVTOVAZ stopped to export finished cars in this Republic and continued to deliver only vehicle sets to be assembled at facilities of Asia Auto plant in Kazakhstan. The process of preparing to launch the assembly of new LADA models at facilities of Asia Auto was longer than anticipated.

Currently the enterprise in Ust-Kamenogorsk produces LADA 4×4 SUV and its urban version Urban, and by the end of the year it plans to launch assembly of all AVTOVAZ models, including new LADA Vesta and XRAY.
